Lanterns

A flicker of light
in my darkest night
like a firefly
basking in the glow

I saw lanterns
for the first time
that was the moment
I knew my eyes
were not made of stone
I never needed a charm
to ward off the evil
I never needed the fire
to scare away the wolves
for all the sinking ships
all my broken bones
all the wildfires
all the lost battles
lead me to your
heart made of gold
your glow beats
the dark and the light
I need nothing else
to lay my eyes upon.
