A deep sleep
reopened my wounds
I couldn't help
but miss you
in my bones
'take care' was all
that you ever forced
out of your mouth
bet you had no idea
how shallow
it sounded
like parting
without saying
'goodbye'.
I could never
beat my instinct
to fall for
your helplessness
your friends surely
had big advice for you
but didn't stick around
when you were deep
into the mess
they led you into.
And if you would have
trusted your heart
you would have seen
we had a lot in common.
Moments when you have your relationships controlled by people. The people whom you create the board of directors in your life, mostly pull you back.
Superb.
Great opening! And emotional impact!
