We are the hopeless
we are the broken
words are all we have
if this world's a stage
we dance softly
on our tiptoes
our eyes meeting briefly
hands touching swiftly
we hush in our language
but if we cry,
the world is tempted to cry
words are all we have
and words are enough
to turn the tables
to cause revolutions
but if we burn,
we can cause wildfires
and the smoke can choke
anyone and everyone
but if we bleed,
there can be rivers
and fountains of blood,
words are all we have
words that are enough.
Theses are extraordinary words, with so much passion and truth to them. I felt the exact same way for the last 44 years of my life as a poet. Thank you for writing this beauty.😊✨💝
What a treat to read! One of my favorite poems about writers/writing. This is really fantastic, and feels like it should be published in an anthology somewhere, truly.
Wow. This is superb! Depth of words, Garima. 🙂
